Fanny Aronsen was born in 1956 in Malmö, Sweden. She worked in Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam, before returning to Sweden. In 1998, she set up her own textile studio in Stockholm: FANNYARONSEN. In 2002, she entered into a partnership with Kvadrat.
Fanny Aronsen designed all its own fabrics, placing great emphasis on the quality of the development of natural materials and the production process. She developed luxurious, tactile fabrics with intriguing textures and opulent colours. Her attention to detail, craftsmanship, and the technical aspects of her designs made a strong impression on the interior design world.
In 2003, she became a professor of textile design at Stockholm University, where she taught at the renowned Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design. She obtained a Master's degree in Art History and Design from Lund University and several textile diplomas from various academies in Scandinavia. In 2011, she founded the FANNYARONSEN Studio to combine the qualities, vision, and values that characterise the FANNYARONSEN collection with those of other artists and designers. This initiative enabled Fanny Aronsen to further demonstrate its commitment to developing innovative, contemporary fabrics and accessories and to collaborate with creative talents from diverse backgrounds. Fanny Aronsen passed away in 2011.
Fanny Aronsen has received several awards for its designs: the German Rote Punkt, the Swedish Utmarkt Svensk Form and the Dutch Mobila Innovative Award and Good Industrial Design Award.
Well-known compounds which she has designed in collaboration with Raf Simons for Kvadrat: Vidar, Balder, Sunniva and Harald.
