Gabriel is a Danish company and has been a major player in the world of upholstery fabrics for over 170 years. Gabriel supplies 57 countries worldwide and is best known in the Netherlands for its work in the contract sector.

The story begins in 1851 with a watermill on the little river Østeraa, just outside the town of Aalborg. The watermill supplied power to a small textile mill where woollen yarns were turned into woollen garments.

In the beginning of the 20^e In the 20th century, Gabriel began producing woollen upholstery fabrics. By combining aesthetics with functionality, it grew to become a global player in the field of modern, high-quality upholstery fabrics.

The best-known upholstery fabrics from Gabriel include: Gabriel Crisscross (woollen fabric with a distinctive pattern), Gabriel Fame (patterned woollen fabric) and Gabriel Gaja (woollen fabric).

Gabriel is one of the pioneers in the field of so-called ‘post-consumer recycled fabrics’, i.e. fabrics that are reprocessed into new upholstery fabrics after being used by consumers.

Like other brands from the far north of Europe, Gabriel embodies stylish, modern, minimalist and trendy Scandinavian design.
